Who's Jesus?
One of the all time questions that is asked by many is Who is Jesus? Why do we talk so much about Him? Why is he so important to you? And my favorite is Why do I need Jesus?
In order to answer the question of Who's Jesus we must first understand the Why? The Why is the reason we want to help you understand Who Jesus is.
First let's look at the Bible. The Bible is Gods book that He gave us as an instruction manual for life. It holds the keys and the answers to help anyone on life's journey. The bible tells us the reasons for why we are here, Man has a purpose.
Looking in the first book called Genesis we read how God created the universe, the animals, the stars and even man. Man was created to have a relationship with God. God created man perfect. He was in perfect relationship with God and with nature. Man had a job. He was to tend to the Garden and watch over the animals. Adam and Eve did have one restriction, not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. So everyday God would visit man and talk to him and see how he was doing. God was sharing His life with man. Then, over time however, the devil came and decieved man into eating from the Tree of Knowledge and caused sin to come into the world. Because God is holy He refuses to stay in the presence of sin. What would man do now? He now has sin in his life and is not able to fellowship with God. They can't sit down and talk, they don't have dinner together and they can no longer walk in unity. God and man have now been divided.
Sin is a divider. It divided God from man. Because of this disobedience all of mankind is in a broken relationship with God. It is Gods desire to share His love with each one of us. He loves man so much. He loves you very much. As you read this you may be thinking that there is no hope. Well, God in His infinite wisdom had a plan. A plan to restore man back. This plan was to bring us back together with God in a way that we will no longer have to worry about anything. What is there to worry you ask. Well, there is a little more the this story we need to look at before we can move on.
After man ate of the Tree of Knowledge sin came into the world. Sin is disobedience to God. Sin is unholy and like I mention God will not allow it to stay in His presence. The punishment for this act of disobedience was to leave the Garden forever. Even more painfully then that was, they were no longer along to be in the Presence of God. Sin has a penalty. That penalty is separation from God. As long as there is sin in us, we cannot have a relationship with God. It has even come down to God creating a special place to put the people that refuse to have a relationship with Him. This place is called Hell. It is where all will go that do not accept Gods answer to the sin problem that is in the world.
You have heard the saying for every action there is a reaction. Hell is the reaction to mans disobedience to God. And because God has made man to be able to make decisions for himself, it is our choice to go to Hell or to accept the answer on how to restore this broken relationship with God. There is an answer to the question you are thinking, How am I able to restore this relationship with God? The answer is Jesus.
Jesus is the Son of God. He is the answer, the only answer on how to restore the broken relationship with God. Jesus came to the Earth as an example on how to live a life of obedience. Everything He did, everything He said was for us. His love for you and I is very powerful.
Now, I said earlier that there is a penalty for sin. I said it was separation from God. There is another penalty that comes with sin, it is death. Man was created to live with God forever. We were never meant to die. But once again, sin brings death. God is the author of Life. He wants to give us life. He wants us to live forever with Him. It is not God's will for anyone to die, He was us to live. But once again, the choice is ours.
I said that God made a way for us to be restored back into a wonderful relation with God. I want to share with you now how this is done.
Because God is holy, righteous and true He demands that there was to be a payment made to restore all that was lost. Much like a Judge that makes the criminal pays for his actions, God says that the wrong must be made right. What payment could be made? What would be good enough to satisfy and restore this relationship? Nothing that made can do. Nothing we can do, say or work for. Man was in sin, he was not able to make the payment for sin. But God had a plan.
Becuase Jesus was the Son of God there was no sin in Him. And knowing this, He volunteer to come to Earth and pay the price for our sin. Sin brings death and that was the price He had to pay. Jesus came to the Earth to die. That was His mission, His goal. He had to die and make the payment for our sin or we would be lost without God forever. The Bible says that the life of a person is found in the Blood. Jesus spilled His blood for us. Because He spilled His blood out, that same blood brings life to us. You see...Gods plan was to have Jesus die on the cross as payment for sin. Once this was done, the Judge (God) agreed that the payment for sin had been paid. The final and best part is that Jesus didn't stay dead. God raised Him from the dead and brought life. Not just any life, but life eternal. God restored to Jesus and to us the life to be able to live with Him forever. As for us, all we need to do is accept that Jesus paid the price for sin. The bible says that if we believe in our hearts, confess with our mouth that God raised Jesus from the dead than we have restored our relationship back to God. All you need to do is to believe and ask God into your heart.
If you are wanting to ask Jesus into your heart and to restore your relationship with God than I want you to do 3 things. First say this prayer out loud.
Father, I have read this story on how you loved me so much that Jesus came and died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. I realize that I am a sinner that needs you to help me. I ask that you forgive me of my sins. i ask you to restore be back into relationship with you. I believe you raised Jesus from the dead for my benefit of living with you forever. I ask that you cleanse me and make me whole. I thank you for your love and I believe with my heart you have made me right with you. In Jesus name...amen.
Next I want you call the church or even write to us and let us know that you asked Jesus into your heart and restored your relationship with God.
Finally, if at all possible I want you to come to Faith Alive Church. It is important that you get involved with other believers. If you are not from around our area, then we will try to help you find a good church in your area to attend.
God bless you on the decision you made today. It is worth it and there is so much more God has for you.
